Come join us for EDCH 2017 between March 9 and 11, 2017, at Munich’s old Congress Hall. Fees include beverages during the conference as well as a lunch snack on Thursday. On Friday and Saturday morning, join us for INCH, EDCH’s little sister, with a focus on infographics in editorial design.

Astrid Stavro

Astrid Stavro was born in Trieste, Italy and studied graphic design at Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design in London, where she received her Bachelor of Arts (Hons) with a First Class Certificate. She went on to study a Master of Arts at The Royal College of Art, graduating summa cum laude in 2004. Stavro ran her own Barcelona-based, award winning studio, Astrid Stavro Studio, for ten years. She has an international reputation for idea-based design, applied with exquisite typographic sensibility and attention to craft. In 2013 she founded the internationally acclaimed design firm Atlas alongside Pablo Martín, working from offices in New York and Palma de Mallorca.

Stavro’s wide ranging expertise encompasses the design of books, magazines, identities, posters, exhibitions, signage and packaging. Clients include Phaidon, Camper, Laurence King, Lars Müller Publishers, Wallpaper*, CCCB (Barcelona’s Center of Contemporary Art) and the Barcelona Design Museum amongst many others.

She lectures extensively on design related subjects across the globe and has chaired and judged the most prestigious global design competitions. Her work has been recognized with more than 200 international design accolades, including multiple Gold and Silver awards from D&AD, AIGA, ADC (Art Directors Club of NY), TDC (Type Directors Club of NY), SPD (Society of Publication Designers), Graphis, ISTD (International Society of Publication Designers), The Annual (Creative Review), Design Week Awards, ADC*E (The Art Directors Club of Europe), and the Spanish Laus Awards. In 2015, Atlas was honoured with a D&AD Graphite Pencil for the most awarded international graphic design agency and Elephant magazine was named Magazine of the Year Medal Finalist at SPD.

Stavro’s work has been repeatedly featured and profiled in specialized and mainstream books and publications, including Eye, I.D., Print, Wallpaper*, Creative Review, Domus and Grafik as well as books by Phaidon and Laurence King. She has written for some of the top international design Journals and is currently the Art Director and Editor at large of Elephant Magazine.

Stavro is a member of AGI (Alliance Graphique Internationale), the world’s most prestigious design association. She is currently a member of the AGI Board (Treasurer, International Executive Commitee) and a past board member of ADG (Association of Spanish Graphic Designers). Other memberships and affiliations include The International Society of Typographic Designers (ISTD), AIGA, D&AD, SPD, ADC, TDC, ADG, YCN, and AIAP.
