When graphic composer Pekka Toivonen (b. 1979) touches the piano, his heart speaks. Rarely performing artists’ concerts are always both musical and visual experiences. Improvisation has always had a major role in Toivonen’s performances. The themes of his compositions oscillate on the bounds of the extreme; life, death, hope, dispair, power, weakness, loneliness and universal fellowship. Unexpected surprises are part of Toivonen’s authentic style.
Toivonen’s versatile artistic work has been supported by Arts Promotion Centre Finland, Finnish Cultural Foundation, Ministry of Culture and Education, Grafia — Association of Visual Communication Designers in Finland, Kallio Music School and printing house Painomies.
